Purpose

This qualification is intended for entrepreneurs who wish to start, operate, manage and grow a small to medium business venture. Learners attempting this qualification will be equipped with a variety of technical, business management, personal skills and strategies to help them succeed in the creation and sustenance of a business.

Exit outcomes:

The learner will have:

• Demonstrate an ability to identify and create a new venture.
• Demonstrate knowledge of interpersonal skills required in a business environment.
• Demonstrate an understanding of basic economics within a market economy.
• Manage a new venture by applying business principles and techniques.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the role of leadership and management

Duration: 12 Months

Learners will spend up to 40 days in the classroom and the rest in the workplace for a period of 12 months applying learnt skills and knowledge through coaching.

Learning and Assessment

Our methodology is interactive and experiential. Learning, teaching and assessment are integrated. Whenever possible, the assessment of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values shown in the unit standards will be integrated and the learner will be encouraged to set up a new venture whilst learning is underway so that assessment takes place after new venture has been set up and learning has been practically implemented.
